Wondering if it’s time to give us a call? Here are five reasons to pick up the phone.

It’s Old

Like anything else, your air conditioner will only last so long. As it gets older it will begin to wear out and may quit working optimally.

This could be a problem with a certain component but could also involve the entire unit. In this case, you will probably need to replace it with a newer model.

However, in some cases you can fix a certain part and get it back up and running again.

Low on Refrigerant

If your air conditioner’s supply of refrigerant is low, it could mean you aren’t getting enough cool air. Instead of scrapping the entire unit, check the refrigerant levels and refill as necessary.

This is what produces cool air so if it’s gone, it makes sense that your air conditioner might appear to be failing.

It’s Dirty

One of the most important things you can do for your air conditioner is to keep it properly maintained. This includes cleaning the coils and filters.

Letting dirt and debris build up in either place can lead to malfunctioning parts and an air conditioner that quits working. Clean your coils regularly and swap out the air filter according to manufacturer directions to avoid this problem.

Broken Thermostat

The thermostat is what keeps track of the temperature inside your home so the air conditioner can turn on and off as needed.

If it’s broken, your unit won’t work like it should and could stay on without ever going off or not come on as needed.

Replacing the thermostat can often fix this issue.

Duct Leaks

If the ducts that the cool air moves through are damaged or leaking, your air conditioner may appear to be failing.

Often, repairing the ducts can remedy the problem. You shouldn’t try to do this on your own. Call us to help you do it right.
